Dialogues sur le commerce des produits alimentaires

Dans le cadre de son initiative "Dialogues sur le commerce", l'OMC lance un dialogue sur le commerce des produits alimentaires en vue d' encourager un débat sur le rôle du commerce international dans la sécurité alimentaire. Des experts issus des gouvernements, d'organisations non gouvernementales, du monde des affaires, des milieux universitaires, de groupes de réflexion et de fondations seront invités à débattre des questions les plus actuelles en matière de commerce des produits alimentaires. Introduction

Les Dialogues de l'OMC sur le commerce des produits alimentaires ont pour but de lancer un débat sur le rôle du commerce international dans la sécurité alimentaire. Dans le cadre de ces Dialogues, des experts de gouvernements, d'organisations non gouvernementales, du monde des affaires, des milieux universitaires, de groupes de réflexion et de fondations sont invités à débattre des questions les plus actuelles en matière de commerce des produits alimentaires. Chaque année, grâce au système commercial international, du blé, du maïs, du riz et du soja sont transportés en quantités suffisantes pour nourrir environ trois milliards de personnes dans le monde. Parallèlement, l'épandage annuel de 190 millions de tonnes d'engrais sur les terres agricoles joue un rôle crucial en nous aidant à produire suffisamment de nourriture pour assurer la subsistance de nos populations qui s'accroissent et, une grande partie de ces engrais s'échange au niveau international. Les changements climatiques rendront le commerce international encore plus crucial pour la sécurité alimentaire, car, au lendemain de catastrophes naturelles, il servira de courroie de transmission des produits alimentaires entre les pays qui disposent d'un excédent et ceux qui connaissent un déficit. Les Dialogues sur le commerce des produits alimentaires sont conçus pour mettre davantage en lumière la complexité des liens dans le commerce des produits alimentaires et pour offrir un espace sûr pour un débat sur les politiques publiques.
